Many times I find that writing your goals down help achieve them faster.
Dailyblogtips has inspired me to publish mine for 2009.
Here is a mix list of personal and profession goals:
- Read 7 good books on algorithms and best software development practices
- Start learning Java
- Write 5 articles / week
- Start another / contribute to an open source project
- Workout 5-6 days / week
- Go to a nice place for the weekend every 2-3 weeks
- Dance Salsa like a Pro

Yes that's true for any (programming) language.
It takes some time to master it but after that it becomes very easy.
